Radiator Repair and Coolant Services in Orange Park, Florida 32073
At TRANSMISSION HERO we insist our customers to have their vehicles coolant system checked at least twice a year. If you don't maintain your car's cooling system, including changing the old coolant with new O.E.M recommended coolant for your radiator, it might result in serious damages or even a complete failure of your engine. A flush is recommended every twice per year or at the very least every 15,000 miles or once a year. Today's cars run hot: much hotter than they did a few decades ago. That extra heat is necessary for proper emission control. But just as lower emissions levels depend on high temperatures, transmission life depends on lower temperatures. In fact, high temperatures are the leading cause for premature automatic transmission failure. That's why an efficient engine cooling system is so important to transmission life. That's right: the engine cooling system affects transmission life. That's because the engine cooling system also doubles as the transmission cooling system. Virtually all of today's automatic transmissions have a cooler that mounts inside one of the radiator tanks, to transfer heat away from the transmission. The heat from the transmission is transferred from the transmission fluid to the engine coolant, which then releases that heat to the air flowing past the radiator fins. This heat transfer process is critical for transmission operation; without proper heat transfer through the cooling system, the transmission will melt down in no time. In fact, any reduction in cooling system efficiency will have a drastic effect on transmission life, long before it even becomes noticeable to engine performance.
TRANSMISSION HERO'S position on engine cooling systems is simple: Any indication of a cooling system problem identified during a rebuild or annual service checkup must be corrected to maintain the transmission's warranty. There are no exceptions to this policy.
When our technicians at TRANSMISSION HERO perform a diagnostic test on your vehicle's cooling system they will inspect & check the following:
- Check your radiator fluid level
- Check circulation of fluids & water pump
- Scan the electrical systems for codes & bad temperature sensors, switches, relay's
- Check electric fans , motors, and wiring
- Look for signs of corrosion and oxidation
- If all parts, including the thermostat and fans, are working properly
- Belts and hoses for signs of fractures or leaks
- Condition of any pulleys' or tensioner pulley
- Check for leaking fluids or deposits which might show indications of leaks or damages
- Pressure test the radiator
At TRANSMISSION HERO when you are driving your vehicle, there are certain parts of your engine that create friction and that same friction generates heat. It can be quite a challenge to keep up with the cooling system maintenance of your vehicle. The newer vehicles have advanced electrical wiring systems and temperature sensors, switches, and relays that our controlled by your vehicles E.C.M. (Engine Control Model) for something as simple as your vehicles cooling system. Did you know a coolant temperature sensor (CTS) (also known as an ECT sensor or E.C.T.S. (engine coolant temperature sensor) is used to measure the temperature of the coolant/antifreeze mix in the cooling system, giving an indication of how much heat the engine is giving off plus all kinds of other electrical data. If the coolant temperature sensor goes bad it can send a false signal to the computer and throw off the fuel and timing calculations. It is not uncommon for the coolant temperature sensor to fail and send a permanently cold signal to the computer. This will reduce fuel economy, and may hinder engine performance. Bad coolant temperature sensor can cause your car not to start or hard to keep running or cold starting problems. If you have to pump the gas pedal in the morning to keep your car running, you may have a bad engine coolant temperature sensor. This is just one of those repairs you might need to bring your car to the shop to get fixed.
However, our friendly, trustworthy and professional team of certified mechanics at TRANSMISSION HERO specialize in various auto repair services, including radiator repair and radiator, flush and we can keep your car in properly working order.
Having an optimally-running radiator in your car has numerous benefits to your car's health – and your own safety. Replacing a broken radiator ensures that the rest of your engine won't break down in future years. It can also reduce engine corrosion, which will cause detrimental damage to the rest of the engine. All of the components in the cooling system join forces to meet one important goal, which is moving coolant around your engine so that it can absorb and dissipate heat. The main purpose of the cooling system is to reduce the temperature in order to help all other parts of the engine work properly.
The standard cooling system is made up of the following components:
- Thermostat and housing
- Temperature sensors
- Water pump
- Electric cooling fans
- Radiator
- Coolant hoses
- Belts.
- Pulleys
- Tensioned pulley
